Oscar-winning Pakistani filmmaker and social activist Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy has bagged another award. Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy has been included in the list of 18 best directors in Asia who have played a significant role in the film industry.
The list, released by Hong Kong's Lifestyle Magazine, includes 18 Asian directors.
The magazine has written about Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy that who has won many awards, he is a journalist, social worker, and filmmaker. It was further said that Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy is known for highlighting the issues faced by women and she has won 2 Academy Awards, 6 Emmy Awards, and one Knight International Journalism Award.
Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy was said to have been awarded the Hilal-e-Imtiaz by the government of Pakistan in 2012 and was included in Time magazine's list of the world's 100 most influential people in the same year. Her award-winning documentaries include Saving Fees and A Girl in the River.
