Senate committee meeting; Mehwish Hayat’s Medal issue becomes a debate
ISLAMABAD: Muslim League (N) Senator Mushahidullah Khan has raised questions about who gave Mehwish Hayat the honor of being awarded the medal of honor to actress Mehwish Hayat at a meeting of the Senate Standing Committee.
The Cabinet Secretariat Committee of the Senate, chaired by Senator Talha Mahmood, attended a meeting briefed by the Establishment Division officials about the national, civil awards given to various individuals.
During the meeting, Talha Mehmood, Chairman of Peshawar Zalmai, asked about the award given to Javed Afridi, who was given the award to his country. What service was there for his country, it was his business.
Senator Mushahidullah said that it should also be mentioned how much tax paid by Javed Afridi, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi paid the highest taxes. He is in jail. To which the chairman said the committee called the FBR on the tax issue.
During the meeting, officials of the Establishment Division said that the 23-member committee recommends the name for the award. Senator Mushahidullah asked who sent Mehwish Hayat's name?
Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Prime Minister Swati said that if the committee feels that the parliament is represented in the committee, please recommend it to us. The government will look at these recommendations, we will definitely try to implement them. Azam Swati said I had recommended three names myself but did not receive the award. Senator Mushahidullah said if you name Mehwish Hayat you will be found immediately.
