Senate approves six-month maternity, three-month paternity Paid leaves Bill presented by Senator of the Pakistan People's Party (PPP), while the opposition opposed the establishment of the National Coastal Development Authority.
The Senate bill states that the mother will be given 6 months with a salary at the time of the first child's birth, the father will be given one month leave, the child's mother will be given three months and the father one month without pay. Extra leave should also be given.
At the birth of the first child, the mother leaves with a salary of 180 days (6 months)
At the birth of the second child, the mother leaves with a salary of 120 days (4 months)
At the birth of the third child, the mother leaves with a salary of 90 days (3 months)
The father of the child will also get paid leave
Holiday with 30 days (one month) salary at childbirth, 3 times in term job
The bill further states that the bill will apply to both public and non-governmental organizations in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas and if the employer does not discharge its employees, action will be taken against them.
The Senate-approved bill will now be forwarded to the National Assembly, where it will be discussed further.
The senator said that women are not allowed to give birth to children in public institutions, in the Senate, women are also told not to produce so many children.
Referring to the government opposition, he said that the bill was in the committee for a year, why the federal minister did not come to the committee.
Federal Minister Hamad Azhar opposed the bill, saying that in our law, 90 days leave is allowed, the paternity leave should be reduced to 15 days, because nowhere else in the world is given such a long leave.
He said government employees (men) already have 48 days and women go on 3 months left
