Punjab Chief Minister announces Insaf Imdad package

Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar announced a health-care package for the poor and daily wage earners affected by the lockdown in the province in the wake of the Coronavirus.

Addressing a press conference in Lahore after the provincial cabinet meeting, the Chief Minister said that Rs. 10 billion has been allocated in the package under which it will help 2.5 million families and provide 4,000 per family.

"For this, the public will make a message from the house and they will get their name and ID card number after which they will be confirmed and the money will be transferred," he said.

He said that those arrested during the lockdown in Punjab have been ordered to be released under the goodwill and they are urging the people to stay in their homes.

He said that the ban on cement factories in Punjab was being lifted as per the directions of the federal government.

The Chief Minister said that to reduce the pressure on law enforcement agencies, 10,000 vacant posts have been allowed to be filled and the summary of 500 vehicles has also been approved.

He said that a 1000-bed hospital has been set up at the Expo Center in Lahore which will be operational from tomorrow.

He said that the cabinet had directed the health department to increase the testing capacity and would give them all the resources for this.

"Every hospital will meet the need for a safety kit and build a control room so that nothing is disturbed," he said.
