PTA Mobile TAX
In Pakistan, the basic regulatory framework for the telecommunications industry was established in 1994 by the Pakistan Telecommunication Ordinance. This framework included the formation of authority. In 1996, the Telecommunication (Reorganization Act) XVII passed a law to reorganize the country's telecom industry.
The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) was founded under the Telecom Reorganization Act of 1996. The purpose of the PTA was to govern the creation, operation, and maintenance of telecommunication infrastructure and the supply of telecom services.

A new regulatory framework, known as the Device Identification Registration and Blocking System, was presented by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (DIRBS). This was done first to entangle the local mobile phone chain within a net to lessen the risks associated with the unlawful use of mobile devices in Pakistan. This included implementing tough procedures and checks on mobile phones imported into Pakistan and ending illegal smuggling procedures used to get mobile phones into the nation.
This is not the story's conclusion; the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) declared in March 2020 that the authorisation procedure for importing mobile phones into Pakistan is limited to five devices per person and calendar year. Individuals must register their mobile devices with the PTA upon arrival at the airport. This can be done at the customs counter or by applying online. Anyone who plans to use a local sim on an imported phone for more than sixty days will be required to have the phone registered, regardless of whether they are nationals or visitors from another country.
