Privatization of Government Properties, Institutions
In addition, Prime Minister Imran Khan presided over a separate meeting for privatization in which the approval of the privatization of 33 government agencies/communities would be completed this year.
These establishments include 2 plants of reclaimed liquid natural gas, SMC Bank, Services International Portal of Lahore and Jinnah Convention Center in Islamabad, as well as 27 government areas.
On the occasion, the Prime Minister said that privatization of non-profit organizations and the non-governmental property is in the national interest which will reduce the burden on the national exchequer and provide financial resources for social and welfare development projects.
The meeting was attended by Minister for Planning Asad Omar, Minister for Privatization Mian Muhammad Soomro, Advisor to Finance Abdul Hafeez Shaikh, Advisor to Commerce Abdul Razzaq Daud, Advisor to Reform Dr Ishrat Hussain, Assistant Special Information Minister Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan, Secretary Privatization Division and other senior officers. ۔
During the meeting, the Secretary Privatization Division apprised the Prime Minister of the progress made so far regarding the privatization of various government agencies and properties.
The Prime Minister was informed that seven privatization transactions will be completed by May and June this year.
In this regard, the Prime Minister directed that every effort should be made to complete the privatization process within the prescribed timelines and to enhance inter-ministerial cooperation in this regard so that all obstacles can be overcome by taking immediate action on resolved issues.
