Islamabad: The Pakistan People's Party (PPP) and the PML-N (PMLN) have expressed surprise and reservations over the Lahore High Court's decision against the decision of the special court in a serious treason case.
According to a PPP central media statement, Nafisa Shah, a member of the National Assembly, said the decision had taken her by surprise, "today is unfortunate for the rule of law."
It may be recalled that a three-member bench of the Lahore High Court had termed the formation of a special court hearing a serious treason case against the former President General (retd) Pervez Musharraf at the request of the federal government.
In its judgment, the High Court also said that a serious treason case against the former Army Chief was not made according to law.
It is to be remembered that the special court had sentenced General (retd) Pervez Musharraf to death on December 17 after serving six years.
