ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that the projects under construction of Pak-China Economic Transit (C-PEC) should be completed quickly and he also directed to finalize consultations regarding future projects on a priority basis.
According to a report by the Associated Press of Pakistan (APP), the Prime Minister said that China has always helped Pakistan during difficult times and that C-PEC has a multi-faceted partnership between the two countries is manifest.
According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister's Office, the Prime Minister said that China's experience needs to be fully utilized in the social sector, especially in relation to poverty alleviation and promotion of agriculture.
The Prime Minister also presided over a high-level meeting to review progress on various C-PEC projects.
The meeting was attended by Minister for Economic Affairs Hamad Azhar, Minister for Planning Asad Omar, Advisor to the Finance Minister, Dr. Abdul Hafeez Shaikh, Minister for Naval Affairs, Syed Ali Haider Zaidi, Chairman C-PEC Authority Lt. Gen. (R) Asim Saleem Bajwa, Chairman New Pakistan Housing Program (Lieutenant General. R) Anwar Ali Haider and senior officers attended.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister directed the concerned authorities to expedite the implementation of various projects under the second phase of the C-PEC.
While directing the finalization and timely completion of the socio-economic development projects in the second phase of the C-PEC, the Prime Minister called on all concerned ministries to set the completion time for the projects and make inter-state cooperation more effective.
