Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi says Prime Minister Imran Khan has succeeded in convincing US President Donald Trump on a change in the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) and US travel guidance for Pakistan.
In a special conversation with 'Urdu News', the Foreign Minister said that at a meeting in Davos on the eve of the World Economic Forum, the US President declared Pakistan's actions regarding the FATF solid and announced his acceptance. ۔
He said that Donald Trump in the presence of the US Finance Minister and the remaining 20 people said that the present government of Pakistan has taken concrete steps on the FATF issue which should be recognized and the US should support Pakistan. '
It should be noted that a few days ago, Pakistan urged the United States to play its role in extracting Pakistan's name from the grey list of the Money Laundering and Terrorist Assistance Watchdog Financial Action Task Force (FATF).
Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi told a news briefing in Washington that Pakistan hopes the United States will support Pakistan's efforts to get off the FATF list during a meeting in Beijing next month.
The FATF has included Pakistan in the list of countries that have failed to curb money laundering and where terrorists can raise funds for their activities.
If Pakistan does not come out of the grey list until April, then Pakistan will probably be blacklisted under which the country will face several economic sanctions, such as Iran facing economic sanctions.
