Passenger train service has been temporarily suspended due to the growing threat of Coronavirus in the country.
According to the notification of the Pakistan Railway issued in this regard, suspension of train service will be applicable for 7 days from 12 noon to 31st March.
The passenger ticket will be refunded on the train service restoration in case of re-use or refund, the statement said.
Besides, reports were circulating that the Pakistan Railways withdrew its notification, however, spokesperson Tariq Asad said that all trains running before 12pm will be scheduled according to schedule apply on passenger trains.
He said that despite the suspension of these passenger trains, freight trains would operate normally.
It is to be noted that the Railway Department had earlier announced the closure of the first 12 trains.
Minister for Railways Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed had said that 34 trains would be closed for 15 Ramadan due to the shortage of passengers in view of Coronavirus in the country.
At a press conference in Islamabad, he said that 12 trains will stop running first, including Khushal Khan Khattak, Shah Latif, and Ravi, while the remaining trains will be closed from the night of March 24.
