Pakistan needs 15 votes to get off the grey list

Islamabad: Today is the second day of the FATF's five-day meeting in the French capital of Paris. Pakistan needs 15 votes to get off the grey list.

According to News, a Pakistani delegation led by Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Hamad Azhar is present in Paris. The delegation includes officials from the Ministry of Finance, State Bank, FMU. The meeting will decide whether to remove or retain Pakistan's name from the grey list.

The Financial Action Task Force (FATF) added Pakistan to the grey list in June 2018, after which Pakistan made solid progress in implementing the given action plan, and on the risks of money laundering, terror financing, Pakistan now needs 15 votes to get out of the grey list, for which Pakistan has made full diplomacy.

On the other hand, there is no possibility of Pakistan being included in the blacklist; there are 3 votes required to thwart the attempt to blacklist Pakistan. It should be noted that neighbouring country India has made great efforts to blacklist Pakistan but it has not succeeded in its deliberate efforts.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan also announced his support for Pakistan on his visit, saying that Pakistan is on the path towards progress and prosperity. Will strongly assure Pakistan's full support in the FATF.
