Pakistan launches precautions to prevent 'corona virus'

National Airlines (PIA) has begun a coronavirus screening of its expected passengers at China's Beijing airport, following precautionary measures.

It should be noted that the aforementioned respiratory virus has killed 17 people in China so far, and its presence in several countries, including the United States.

According to a PIA spokesperson, the instructions for screening passengers have been sent to the national carrier's station management and operating staff in China.

According to government and non-governmental news agencies, national airline officials have contacted the Pakistan Ministry of National Health to take necessary steps for screening the arrival of flights from Beijing.

Thermal scanners have been installed at 4 major airports across the country with the help of the Ministry of Health to prevent the Coronavirus.

According to a spokesman of the Aviation Division, thermal scanners have been installed at Karachi Airport, Lahore Airport, Islamabad Airport and Bachakhan Airport.

Similar measures are being taken to screen travellers at airports around the world.

On the other hand, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) said in a tweet that the chairman of the authority was on alert to take precautions after the Coronavirus spread across Asia.

The NDMA, in collaboration with the Army Medical Corps, the Ministry of Health and relevant stakeholders, has initiated precautionary measures to protect Pakistan from danger, the tweet added.

In addition, a senior Foreign Office official said that the Ministry of Health had been instructed to implement all measures at the border with all airports and China to prevent the Coronavirus.

The official, however, immediately denied the news about closing the border with China.

It should be noted that the number of people affected by the virus in Tibet and Xinjiang, bordering Pakistan, is gradually increasing.

After this, the Ministry of Health has been directed to speed up surveillance at airports and border locations by scanning.

Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi quoted him as saying, "I cannot give a technical opinion but the relevant departments of the Ministry of Health and Foreign Affairs are working on it."

It may be noted that the number of people affected by the new coronavirus pneumonia in China has reached 5,71, out of which 95 are in critical condition and 17 have been killed so far.
