LONDON: World number one men's tennis player Novak Djokovic has opposed making the Cod 19 vaccine mandatory for athletes.
Speaking to a British news agency, he said that when the game of tennis resumed and the players were asked to be vaccinated, then they would have to make a "decision".
The 17-time Grand Slam champion told Serbian athletes that he did not want to be forced to take the vaccine before traveling. What if it was made mandatory? I have to decide I have my own opinion on this matter and I can't say if it will change at some point
"If the season starts in July, August, or September, which is very unlikely, I think it will be a condition to get vaccinated after coming out of this strict quarantine," he added.
It should be noted that all tennis tournaments are suspended till July 13. For the first time since World War II, Wimbledon has been canceled and the French Open has been postponed until September.
