Mayor Karachi Waseem Akhtar seeks help from Rangers to abolish KMC land

Mayor Karachi Waseem Akhtar, frustrated by the police's performance, demanded the Director General (DG) Rangers Sindh to abolish the land of Baldia-e-Azam Karachi (KMC).

In a letter written to DG Rangers, Waseem Akhtar sought help for the acquisition of KMC land.

The KMC officer is taking over 200 acres of the society's mafia, he said.

According to Wasim Akhtar, Mafia activists occupied the KMC Society's office in December.

According to Mayor Karachi, on January 3 this year, an FIR was registered on the land occupation at Pak Colony Police Station but police did not take any action even after a month.

He addressed the Rangers in the letter and requested them to help the land grow.

In addition, the letter stated that the KMC was allotted a 200 acre land for MC Officer Housing Scheme in 1993 after which the civic organization filed a case in the High Court against the KMC and KMC Housing Scheme.

According to the post, 'the trial is still ongoing'.

It should be noted that in recent years, the occupation of the land against the Mafia has been going on loudly in selected places.

On January 24, the Supreme Court, rejecting the Sindh government's report, directed that the chief minister should convene a cabinet meeting and decide to restore Karachi under the original master plan.

In addition, the court, while expressing gratitude to the Defense Housing Authority (DHA) at the hearing, gave remarks that if DHA buses were to operate, they should also make cities in the sea.

Earlier, a report surfaced that 224 of the city's 237 cemeteries were controlled by the KMC's disqualification and controlled by the Land and Occupation Mafia.

A KMC official had said that increasing control of the mafia in city cemeteries not only caused problems for the citizens of Karachi but also led to an increase in seizures and illegal plots.

It is to be noted that the Supreme Court order has also launched a vigorous operation against the encroachments on public land in Karachi and several shops have been demolished during the operation in the areas of Empress Market and Garden areas in Karachi.
