Lahore: Renowned Actor Afzaal Ahmad Passed Away

Afzaal Ahmad, a well-known actor in Pakistan film, drama industry and theater, passed away in Lahore after an illness.

The administration of Lahore General Hospital has confirmed his death and said that Afzaal Ahmad, a well-known TV and film actor, was brought to the hospital on December 1 in a critical condition due to a brain haemorrhage.

The administration of Lahore General Hospital said that the condition of the patient was extremely critical, all medical facilities were rushed, despite the best efforts of the doctors, Afzaal Ahmad met Khaliq Haqiqi this morning.

On the other hand, the administration of Lahore General Hospital and the provincial government were criticized after the pictures of Afzaal Ahmad not being given proper treatment facilities.

The famous actor was transferred to the General Hospital in a critical condition, so he was not even given a bed to take his last breath, Afzaal Ahmad was placed with another patient.

The sources state that Afzaal Ahmad was being treated in Medical Unit One when he passed away, despite his family's repeated requests for a bed from the hospital's administration.

Abid Sher Ali, a senior leader of the Muslim League (N), claimed that the Tehreek-e-Insaf administration had shamed the nation by not even providing a bed for the iconic actor Afzaal Ahmad in a government hospital in Lahore. Those who falsify their health insurance documents should be ashamed of themselves.

Journalist Arshad Chaudhry, referring to the family, wrote that legendary actor Afzaal Ahmad passed away but could not get a separate bed for him in the hospital.

However, after receiving backlash from various quarters, Lahore General Hospital issued an explanation statement explaining that patients sometimes had to lie on beds with other patients instead of stretchers during emergencies due to time constraints.

A look at Afzaal Ahmad career

Afzaal Ahmad acted in more than 384 films between 1968 and 2012. He started his film career with a Pakistani film, which was released in 1968.

He entered the world of acting through his voice in the 60s; some of his super-hit films include Hashu Khan, Insan Aur Gadha, Pehla Vaar, Shida Rasta, sasta khoon mehnga pani, Babul Sadqay Teray, Sharif Badmash, Wehshi Jatt, Hatkhadi, Shokan mele di, Do Sohni Mahiwal, Jeera Sain, Haji Khokhar, Ranga Daku, Goga Sher, Badmash Gujjar, Qurbani, Chan Varyam, Muftbar, Qanoon Shikan, Charda Suraj, Des Pardes, Lagaan, Ajab Khan, Ghulami, Baghi Sipahi, Yeh Adam, Puttar Jagay Da and 'Riaz Gujjar', many other films are also included.

Afzaal Ahmad, who ruled the film industry for many decades, has left an indelible impression of acting in films, but his services to the theater cannot be ignored. He introduced modern theatre to Pakistan and made it more accessible to a wider audience.

A stroke on November 22, 2001 affected his voice, but he remained committed to the development and promotion of theater despite the loss of speech. He was a graduate of NCA in Fine Arts.

Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting  Marriyum Aurangzeb has expressed deep sorrow and regret over the death of well-known stage, film and TV actor Afzaal Ahmad and said that Afzaal Ahmad entertained art lovers with his spontaneous acting. And the void created in the drama industry will never be filled.

In his condolence statement on Friday, he prayed that Allah Almighty grant the deceased a high place in His mercy and patience to the bereaved.

Senator Faisal Javed Khan of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf expressed his condolences and said that Afzaal Ahmad is one of the legendary actors of Pakistan.
