An attack on a police station in the upper sub-division area of the Orakzai tribal district killed two constables.
On Wednesday night, sources close to the incident said that armed men attacked the police station with heavy weapons, resulting in the death of Constable Yahya and Constable Akhtar Janan.
In addition, a martyr's funeral was held at the district headquarters on Thursday, attended by senior officers and notables.
Later, the bodies of the two constables were sent to their native village.
Talking to media after the funeral, District Police Officer Nisar Ahmad Khan said police and Frontier Corps personnel were jointly performing duties in the police station.
The miscreants attacked the police station with heavy weapons and fled, he said.
He also said additional personnel were sent to the area and search operations were also carried out.
It is worth mentioning here that three soldiers, including an officer, were killed in a shootout with militants in the tribal district of North Waziristan on Wednesday.
Seven terrorists were also killed during a similar intelligence-based operation in Datta Khel.
