Iran responds to missile attacks on US military bases in Iraq

Iran fired 15 ballistic missiles at two military bases of the US and its allied forces in Iraq in response to the death of General Qasim Sulaimani, the head of the Al-Quds Force.

According to a British news agency, Reuters reports that Tehran targeted two military bases in Iraq at around 1pm local time, where US, coalition forces remain, while Iran fired more than a dozen missiles from its mainland. ۔

According to an Iranian state television report, the missile attack killed 80 American terrorists and no missile could be stopped.

Official TV quoted sources from the Revolutionary Revolution as saying that if the United States retaliates, Iran's eyes are on the 100 targets in the region.

The report also said US helicopters and military equipment were "severely damaged".

It should be noted that since the siege of the US embassy in Tehran in 1979, it has been Iran's largest direct attack against the United States so far.

On the other hand, the US and Iraqi officials have said that the search for the buildings is underway, but no casualties have been reported yet.

Iran's state-run television says Iran's Islamic revolutionaries confirmed the firing of rockets in response to the death of Qasim Sulaimani.

The statement also suggested the US should withdraw its troops from the region to avoid further casualties, and warned US allies, including Israel, not to use its territory for attacks.

On the other hand, the US Department of Defense did not provide the number of casualties from the Iranian attack by the Pentagon.

Pentagon spokesman Jonathan Hoffman said in a statement that al-Assad air base in Iraq and another base in Arbil were targeted, "We are working on a preliminary review of the damage from the fighting."

The statement added, "As we assess the situation and our response, all necessary steps will be taken to defend and protect US personnel, allies and partners in the region."
