According to a report by a foreign news agency, Indian filmmaker Meera Nair responded to the arrest of Sadaf Jafar, the actress on the social networking site Twitter's Prairie Boy movie, saying it was our India where the actress was arrested for protesting peacefully.
Filmmaker Meera Nair appealed to the citizens to cooperate with them in demanding the release of Sadaf Jaffer.
Sadaf Jaffer is a Congress spokesperson, teacher and social leader in Uttar Pradesh besides working in film and theatre.
The actress heard the video on Facebook Live in which she is asking women to stop the stones.
On the other hand, SHO Hazrat Ganj police station D Pakkshwa said that Sadaf Jafar was arrested along with these protesters, accused of making anti-government slogans, has been sent to jail and there is evidence against them.
Naveed Roma, the sister of actress Sadaf Jafar, denied the allegations of the police and said that Sadaf was shouting slogans at the protest and preventing the police from stoning.
It is to be remembered that in India protests against the anti-Muslim act have intensified, so far 23 people have been killed and several arrested in clashes with police.
