The Government of Pakistan, under the Film Policy 2018, has launched a project to set up a film division in Pakistan Television (PTV) and a streaming website called 'PakFlex'.
According to PTV, Information and Broadcasting Minister Maryam Aurangzeb launched the projects by unveiling the logos of PTV Film and PakFlex during a function in Islamabad on June 8.
Addressing the function, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Maryam Aurangzeb said that the former federal government of PML-N had worked on PTV Film Division in 2017 while her own government had worked on Film Policy 2018 in the last days.

Work had also begun. She said that unfortunately in the previous government of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) projects like film policy and PTV film division could not be worked on priority basis.
Maryam Aurangzeb said that the PTV Film Division has to produce such film material which would promote tourism in the country and also reflect the national culture. During the speech, he also gave the initial details of the streaming website called 'PakFlex' and said that all the content of PTV including the content of the film division would also be shown online.
The Information Minister said that the present government had announced incentives for the film industry in spite of difficult economic conditions and after the budget, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif was convening a conference on film policy.
Showbiz personalities expressed happiness over the government's launch of 'Film Division' and 'Pakflix' projects, calling it better for the showbiz industry.
