Heavy snowfall in Azad Kashmir killed at least 11 people

Heavy rainfall and snowfall in Azad Kashmir killed at least 11 people and injured 12 in two districts.

According to officials, 10 people were killed in the upper villages of the Neelam Valley, northeast of Muzaffarabad, while all the injured are from the same area.

According to Superintendent of Police (SP) Asif Durrani, the first accident due to heavy snow was reported in Laut Bala village.

He said more than a dozen children were going to school that 3 children were trapped in a large piece of ice.

According to police, residents of the area rushed to the scene and rescued the three children, but 14-year-old Laiba could not survive.

Both survivors Mubasher and Salma were injured, but their condition is now out of danger, he added.

In Bela Village of Kandiwala destroyed 6 houses

Disaster management officer Akhtar Ayub said at least 25 residents escaped the blizzard, but a woman and her two children were trapped in the house.
