Gilgit: Due to avalanche 5 soldiers martyred

Gilgit / Muzaffarabad: As a result of the snowstorm in Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, 15 people were killed and 109 died, including 5 soldiers, due to weather conditions across the country.

According to the report, avalanches in the Azad Kashmir Valley affected the worst where 74 people were killed and ground and phone contacts were disconnected for the fourth consecutive day in the upper reaches of Gilgit-Baltistan.

Authorities in Astor District said that avalanche killed a Woman and a child, as well as five soldiers, while several people were injured in two different areas.

The local administration said that the five young men who belonged to the engineering corps of the army were killed in the avalanche in Dombabahu, Astor.

According to officials, the bodies of the martyrs were identified as Lance Naik Benares Iqbal, Lance Naik Abdul Razzaq, SPR Mohammad Rafiq, SPR Shahzad Akram and SPR Ammar Ali, all the bodies were shifted to Gilgit.

Blizzard also damaged homes in Astor, where the earthquake had occurred some time ago.
