Funeral prayers of Arshad Malik will be offered in the temple while burial will also be held in the village of the temple.

The mourners of the former judge include 2 sons and 2 daughters. It may be recalled that Judge Arshad Malik had on December 4, 2018, sentenced former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to seven years imprisonment and fine in the Azizia Steel Mills corruption reference while acquitting him in another reference related to flagship investments. However, on July 6, 2019, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's daughter Maryam Nawaz during a press conference had revealed the alleged secret video of Judge Arshad Malik, who pronounced the verdict in the Azizia Steel Mills case.

In the video played by the PML-N vice-president, Judge Arshad Malik was allegedly discussing the NAB reference against Nawaz Sharif during a meeting with PML-N activist Nasir Butt. Maryam Nawaz had said that the judge seen in the video had told Nasir Butt about the verdict that 'Nawaz Sharif has been abused, my conscience has been blaming me since the verdict and I have nightmares at night, so Nawaz It should be conveyed to Sharif that his case is in limbo.

In the video, Arshad Malik was seen confessing that he had convicted former Prime Minister Nawaz in the Azizia reference as "pressure and blackmail" and that there was no evidence against Nawaz Sharif. However, after the video surfaced, Accountability Court Judge Arshad Malik responded to the charges against him and issued a press release. Judge Arshad Malik had termed the video shown by PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz during a press conference as based on assumptions and said that the video was an attempt to tarnish the image of me and my family. After which the Islamabad High Court had removed him from office while the then Chief Justice of the Lahore High Court had appointed him as an Officer on Special Duty (OSD) in the Sessions Court Lahore and ordered an inquiry into the matter. Justice Sardar Ahmed Naeem was appointed as the Inquiry Judge for the inquiry into the matter. He completed the investigation and submitted the report to the Executive Committee. However, Arshad Malik appeared before the committee and termed the allegations against him as fabricated and false. He refused to acknowledge them.

Judge Arshad Malik had claimed that PML-N representatives offered him bribes and threatened him with dire consequences in order to force him to rule in favor of Nawaz Sharif in Azizia and Flagship references. Later, on July 12, the Islamabad High Court decided to remove Judge Arshad Malik from office and wrote a letter, on which the Law Ministry restrained the judge of Accountability Court No. 2 from further work and to report to the Law Division. However, on July 3 this year, the Lahore High Court's management committee fired Judge Arshad Malik from his post.
