Following the revelations and confessions of actress Rhea Chakraborty, who was arrested by India's Anti-Narcotics Force Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), it was decided to investigate drug use from several Bollywood personalities. Rhea Chakraborty was arrested by the Narcotics Bureau on September 8 and later sent to jail on September 9.
He was arrested on charges of arranging drugs for Sushant Singh Rajput, who committed suicide in June this year. The actress was arrested after she confessed in an interrogation before the Narcotics Bureau that Sushant Singh was arranging drugs for Sushant Singh Rajput and that there were drug parties at the actor's residence.
The Narcotics Bureau had also obtained a remand from the court till September 22 after the arrest of Rhea Chakraborty, which has been extended till October 6. After Rhea Chakraborty's arrest, it was reported that the actress had told the Narcotics Bureau about the drug use of at least 28 Bollywood personalities.
Among the 28 figures, Rhea Chakraborty mentioned to the Narcotics Bureau where Saif Ali Khan's daughter Sara Ali Khan, actress Rakul Preet Singh and designer Simon Khambata.
The Narcotics Bureau later confirmed that an investigation would be launched into Sara Ali Khan, Rakul Preet Singh and designer Simon Khambata soon after Rhea Chakraborty's statement. Now Deepika Padukone's name has also come up in the NCB's investigation against drug use.
According to the report of Pink Villa, not only the name of the actress but also the name of her manager Karishma Prakash is included in the investigation. After recording the alleged chats of Deepika Padukone, the NCB included her name in the investigation in which she was asking her manager Karishma Prakash to bring hashish.
According to reports, the two also discussed the meeting at a place called Coco. Karishma Prakash was also summoned by the NCB for questioning, but according to the ANI report, she has been granted immunity till September 25 due to her health. According to a Times Now report, Deepika Padukone is in touch with her legal team in Delhi after her name came up in a drug case.
The actress is currently in Goa shooting for her upcoming film with Shakun Batra. However, given the current situation, she will leave Goa soon. Coincidentally, Deepika Padukone attended a party at Coco Club in 2017 along with other actors. Apart from Deepika Padukone, the party was also attended by Sonakshi Sinha, Siddharth Malhotra and Aditya Rai Kapoor at a restaurant in Lower Pearl, Mumbai.
According to a separate report from Pink Villa, this high profile party has now come before the NCB in a drug case and the agency is likely to investigate the video footage of the party. According to reports, Deepika Padukone will soon be summoned by the NCB to investigate the matter.
Meanwhile, actress Diya Mirza, whose name has surfaced with Deepika Padukone, has made it clear that she has not used or bought drugs. On the other hand, the NCB interrogated talent manager Jaya Saha for six hours yesterday, but the agency had summoned him and former Shanta Singh Rajput manager Shruti Modi again.
In addition, the agency's director, Dhruva Chatterjee, also appeared before the NCB for a drug-related investigation. It may be recalled that Jaya Saha is an employee of Talent Agency and Deepika Padukone's manager Karishma Prakash is also an employee of the same agency.
