ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has expressed concerns to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) that the rate of COVID 19 among workers returning home from Gulf countries is too high.

According to a report by the British news agency Reuters, the Foreign Office said that the situation of cohabitation in the United Arab Emirates may be helping the spread of the virus.

A Foreign Office spokesman said via WhatsApp that the issue "has been formally raised with the UAE authorities and the two governments are working together to find the best solution to this common concern."

It is estimated that there are about 1.5 million Pakistanis in the UAE, most of whom are low-income workers who live in shared housing and are now unemployed but stranded due to the limited number of return flights. ۔

On the other hand, according to the report of Khaleej Times, India has also planned to repatriate 2,000 of its citizens in a week through 10 special flights which will start from Thursday.

According to the report, all Indian citizens returning to their homeland will also have to stay in mandatory quarantine for 14 days.
