ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Education has contracted with Pakistan Television (PTV) to tackle the disruption to the teaching system caused by the Corona virus, under which the 'Television School' TV channel will be launched.

Sources said that Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood and PTV Managing Director Aamir Manzoor held a rally in the Ministry of Education and later attended the ceremony to sign the agreement of the two sides.

At a time when all teaching institutions are closed due to the virus epidemic, the managing director of PTV assured full support of the Ministry of Education during this critical time.

Sources said there will be eight hours of broadcasting to promote education through the PTV channel.

Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood said that according to the agreement, the channel allocated will begin work in the next three months to promote education.

The channel will continue broadcasting between 8am and 6pm, he said.

Education Minister said that after giving classes to juniors during the morning session, the seniors will be given classes.

The TV channel is an alternative method of providing educational content after the coronary virus outbreak to reduce the educational losses of students, he said.

In response to a question, he said that the aforementioned channel will probably start broadcasting this content in the next 10 days.

He said that after finalizing the material, it would be handed over to PTV.

The Minister said that although there is no competition for direct teaching and classroom environment, we hope that this alternative method will be helpful for the students as well.

Shafqat Mahmood said that the educational institutions would be opened on June 1, but the ministry signed a three-month contract with PTV because there is a backup time during the month after the Corona virus.

Parents and students will be informed about the channel's schedule through advertising, he said.

Federal Directorate of Education (FDA) sources said a large number of experts participated in the content preparation.

He said many private companies also provided content and helped them finalize the content for free.

An FDA official said that the material has been completed up to the matriculation and will be handed over to PTV within the next three days. We will provide them with other intermediate content within a few days.

He said the PTV team would add graphics and make some changes to get the student's attention.
