Cold drinks are banned in all schools and madrassas
ISLAMABAD: The district administration has banned cold drinks in all schools and madrassas in the federal capital.
According to the details, cold drinks have been banned in all the schools and madrassas of the city by DC Islamabad for two months. This restriction will apply to public and private schools as well as madrassas.
The notification in relation to the ban states that section 144 has been enforced in relation to the ban on cold drinks.
Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Hamza Shafqat said that before the ban, social media was polled, 90% voted in favour, the survey was banned keeping in view people's opinion before those soft drinks was also banned in Punjab.
Hamza Shafqat said that according to the World Health Organization reports that cold drinks are harmful to children, the health department's proposal was decided to ban them in Islamabad too, for a ban and public awareness. Promotions will also be launched. The administration will soon submit proposals for legislation in this regard to the federal government.
It may be recalled that three years ago, the Punjab Food Authority had banned energy drinks, soda drinks and cold drinks in schools, colleges in the province. The sale of cold drinks will be banned.
