Mirza Yusuf Baig's lawyer told the court that his client was the principal information officer and had routinely disposed of an advertising agency.

The lawyer said, however, that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) designated him the accused in violation of the procurement rules.

The lawyer further said that the recent amendments made to the National Accountability Ordinance 1999 have set limits on the involvement of a civil servant in a corruption case and that according to the law, the NAB cannot take action against Mirza Yusuf Baig in this case.
