Lahore Sessions Court acquitted actress Saba Qamar and singer Bilal Saeed in a case of desecration of the historic Wazir Khan Mosque. Additional Sessions Judge Muhammad Mushtaq, while approving the pleas of the accused, acquitted them of the case. The second plea of acquittal was also filed by the accused in the Sessions Court.
The actress and singer were accused of violating the sanctity of the mosque by dancing in the Wazir Khan Mosque, on which they had filed a petition seeking acquittal. The petition contended that a false and baseless case was registered against us for blackmailing us and no dance scene was recorded in Wazir Khan Mosque.
He said that permission for filming the song " Qubool Hai" had been sought from the endowment department. The petition further said that the plaintiff in the case Sardar Farhat Manzoor Chandio Advocate is not a witness of the occasion, he has no evidence against Saba Qamar and Bilal Saeed for violating the sanctity of the mosque.
It may be recalled that Lahore Police had filed a case against singer Bilal Saeed and actress Saba Qamar on August 14, 2020, for violating the sanctity of the mosque. A case was filed against them at Akbari Gate police station in Lahore on the complaint of advocate Sardar Manzoor Chandio following a session's court order.
A case was registered against Bilal Saeed and Saba Qamar under Section 295P of the Pakistan Penal Code on the order of the Sessions Court. The two were accused in the case of "violating the sanctity of the mosque" in the video of their song " Qubool Hai" and videos and photos of their song went viral on social media, hurting people's feelings.
The FIR had said that strict action should be taken against all the employees of the mosque administration and endowment department, including Bilal Saeed and Saba Qambar, who were involved in violating the sanctity of the mosque, so that no one would do such thing in future. It may be recalled that Bilal Saeed and Saba Qamar's song ' Qubool Hai' was released on August 11, which did not include scenes filmed at the historic Wazir Khan Mosque in Lahore.
Earlier, however, a short teaser of the song was released, in which the two were seen performing the marriage ceremony at the Wazir Khan Mosque. Following the registration of the case, on September 8, 2021, the Judicial Magistrate of Lahore issued arrest warrants for singer Bilal Saeed and actress Saba Qamar in the case of 'desecration of the mosque' for not appearing in court. He also directed me to submit a surety bond of Rs. 30,000 to avoid.
However, the arrest warrants were later revoked. On March 2, 2022, Sabaqmar and Bilal Saeed applied to the magistrate for acquittal of the case. The court rejected the pleas and summoned them on March 16 for criminal proceedings. However, the accused had filed a second plea of acquittal in the Sessions Court, which was granted and the court acquitted them.
