Appeal for relief of accused after a change in NAB rules

ISLAMABAD: Politicians, bureaucrats facing corruption charges after the National Accountability Amendment Ordinance 2019 was released, filed relief requests in the accountability court.

According to the report, the main accused in the fake accounts case and money laundering case in which former President Asif Ali Zardari is also being tried, Abdul Ghani Majeed and Liaquat Ali Jatoi of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) are among those who have filed the ordinance. Submissions have since been filed.

On the other hand, the ordinance in the National Assembly along with the other 5 ordinances has been placed on the agenda in the form of bills.

They will be referred to the relevant standing committee where the government and the opposition will discuss them.

 According to official documents, a dozen suspects have approached the Islamabad Accountability Court and said, "The new NAB ordinance has provided relief to government officials".

However, such petitions filed by the accused facing references have expressed resentment at the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and its legal team preparing for the future course of action to address the accused's appeals. Is doing
