Alice Wells: We appreciates the government's cooperation on the issue of illegal immigrants

US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Alice Wells says the government appreciates Pakistan's cooperation on the issue of illegal immigrants.

According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Interior, Deputy Foreign Minister Alice Wells met with Interior Minister Ejaz Ahmed Shah to discuss security and internal affairs issues.

During the meeting, the Home Minister said that the problem of illegal Pakistanis has been resolved to a satisfactory extent.

Speaking on the occasion, Alice Wells said, "We appreciate the cooperation of the Government of Pakistan in this regard.

The US delegation came to the meeting and said, "We want to develop a robust system and procedures that can be utilized in the future."

Ijaz Ahmed Shah welcomed the proposal and said that a process has been set up to verify the passport and other travel documents.

Pakistani officials informed the US delegation that reports of cases resolved in the months of November, December and January have been sent to the US Embassy.

Alice Wells said the timely response from the Pakistani government is commendable.

The Home Minister said that the registration process of International Non-Governmental Organizations (INGOs) has been set up. Organizations have no problem.

He also briefed the US delegation on the progress made in relation to the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), to which Alice Wells said it was gratifying to hear that Pakistan's central government had taken up these issues. But has performed very well in a very short time.

Ijaz Shah said that the introduction of these initiatives is very welcome for our own development.

It should be noted that Alice arrived in Pakistan last day on a four-day visit after a visit to India and Sri Lanka.

Although his visit came immediately after Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi's visit to the United States, his visit to Pakistan was already scheduled.

Sources say that during his visit, several more meetings are expected from his political and military leadership, including Pakistan. There will be talks on US relations, the Afghan peace process, recent tensions in the Middle East and Indian atrocities in occupied Kashmir.
