A man who committed suicide at Jinnah Hospital tested negative for corona
KARACHI: A man who committed suicide by jumping from an isolation ward at Jinnah Post Graduate Medical Center (JPMC) has tested negative for coronavirus.
The hospital's executive director, Dr. Sami Jamali, said Fawad Abbasi, 37, was brought to Jinnah Hospital from Landhi in Karachi on Sunday night after showing possible symptoms of the virus.
He said the man who committed suicide was allegedly addicted to drugs.
According to a statement issued by Dr. Sami Jamali, the patient was brought to the hospital in a drowsy state and later regained consciousness, while the person's behavior was also abnormal.
Informing the details of the infected person, Dr. Sami Jamali said that the patient's chest X-ray was taken which showed that the patient was possibly infected with the virus and he was shifted to the hospital's Kwid 19 patients' ward. Was done
According to the hospital administration, the patient took off his clothes and started walking around the hospital building and also threatened the staff.
Due to the patient's objectionable behavior, he was locked on the third floor where he also damaged the iron bars and doors and jumped out of the window at 6:58 in the morning.
As a result, he suffered severe head injuries and was rushed to the Accident Department, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Later, Dr. Sami Jamali of the hospital confirmed that the corona test of the person who committed suicide was negative.
A few days earlier, an elderly man had set himself on fire in the Ghaziabad area of Lahore after residents called him a coronavirus patient.
According to police, Hanif Ahmed, 68, was suffering from asthma but some people were calling him a coronavirus patient.
On the day of the tragedy, Hanif's condition was critical and he had complained of difficulty breathing due to asthma, but some neighbors reported him as having coronavirus due to the same symptom.
When his health deteriorated, Hanif arranged for petrol and set himself on fire in a local cemetery. The elderly man had told police moments before his death that someone in his area had called him a confirmed coronavirus patient.
Similarly, in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh, a father of three committed suicide simply because he feared he had contracted the new coronavirus, which could affect his family.
Also late last month, a nurse from Italy, who was badly infected with the coronavirus, ended her life after contracting the coronavirus.
