495 Legislature failed to provide details of assets to the Election Commission

Islamabad: The top political leaders, federal and provincial ministers and constituents holding constitutional positions are among the 450 legislators who did not submit annual details of their assets and liabilities until the final date (December 30) of the Election Commission. ۔

According to details released by the Election Commission, those who failed to fulfil this legal responsibility included one hundred 66 from the National Assembly, 32 from the Senate, one hundred 90 from the Punjab Assembly, 82 from the Sindh Assembly, 82 from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly. 85 while 40 members of the Balochistan Assembly are included.

Those responsible for the scandal include former president Asif Ali Zardari, Pakistan People's Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and former prime minister Raja Pervez Ashraf.

Also on the list are Defense Minister Pervez Khattak, his son-in-law, Dr Imran Khattak, Minister of State for Counter Narcotics Shahriar Afridi, Minister of Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry, Minister for Inter-Provincial Relations Dr Fahmida Mirza, Minister of State for Water Resources Faisal Woda, Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood, Minister of Meteorology Zartaj Gul, Minister of Religious Affairs Noorulhaq Qadri, Minister of Aviation Ghulam Sarwar Khan, Railway Minister Sheikh Rasheed and his nephew Shafiq and Minister of Naval Affairs Syed Ali Haider Zaidi.

Other prominent members of the National Assembly include Syed Fakhr Imam, Amir Haider Azam Khan, Aamir Mahmood Kiani, Khurram Dastgir Khan, Zain Hussein Qureshi, son of Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Shazia Murree, Asif Zardari's sister-in-law Mir Munwar Ali Talpur and Nawabs. Notable female members of the Senate include Sassi Plateau, Zakhsana Zubairi, Qari'alayan Murree and Maher Taj Rogani.

On the other hand, one hundred and 90 members of the Punjab Assembly who did not submit details of their assets, including Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar.

Other members of the Punjab Assembly include provincial ministers Mohammad Basharat Raja, Malik Mohammad Anwar, Yasser Humayun, Gulrez Afzal Gondal, Ansar Majid Khan Niazi, Zaheeruddin, Meher Mohammad Aslam, Mian Khalid Mahmood, Mian Aslam Iqbal, Mian Mahmood Al Rashid, Mohammad Hashim Dogar and Samiullah Chaudhry are included.

Similarly, those members of Sindh Assembly who have not yet submitted the details of the assets include Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah and provincial ministers Saeed Ghani, Mir Shabir Ali Bajrani, Sohail Anwar, Dr Azra Fazal Pachho and Syed Shahla Raza.
