First things first, let’s talk about why you need to reset your Chromecast. Are you having network issues? Are you trying to connect to a new WIFI network? Are you trying to change the name? Many problems can be fixed without the “nucleus “option of a full reset—another opportunity to try before a full factory reset is merely rebooting the device.

There are two ways to reset your Google Chromecast.

  • For modern Chromecast.
  • For old Chromecast.

For current Chromecast: 

Step 1: open up the Google Home app on your android or IOS device.

Step 2: find the specific Chromecast devices you want to reset.

Step 3: Go to the setting gear location in the right top hand corner.

Step 4: Go to the more option, which looks like three dots stacked on top of each other.

Step 5: choose fact reset.

Step 6: Confirm that you want to reset your device.

For old Chromecast: 

Step 1: With shoulders plugged into the TV, hold down the side button on the dongle for 25 seconds, or more, waiting for the white LED to start blinking.

Step 2: once the LED steading turns white, let goes, and Chromecast will Reboot to complete the reset process.

Resetting your Chromecast back to its default factory settings are very quick and easy. You can push the factory reset button on your Chromecast device and then disconnected and reconnect the power cable. Or you Recon reset your device from the Google Home app on your phone or tablet.

How to reset a Google Chromecast: 

  • Turn on your TV and switch to Chromecast input.
  • Find Chromecast devices.
  • Locate the button on the side of the device.
  • Hold it down unit LEDS stand flashing Release the button and want for the reboot.

The process for a Chromecast device will depend on which modal you have.

How to reset Google Chromecast using one Google home app on your smartphone and locate the Google home app icon and tap open it. On the Button right-hand side of your smartphone screen, tap the button, which appears as a small stick figure’s head and shoulders and shoulders inside a circle. Tap on the option which tells’ you how many devices you have hooked up in your home.

When the list of devices appears, tap on the devices you wish to reset on the screen for chosen devices, tap to the setting icon on the screen’s upper right side corner to open the device setting. Tap on the three dots on the upper right corner of the screen. You will be able to reset your device.
