Director Asim Abbasi's first original web series 'Churails', which will be released on August 11 this month, is well-known all over the world. Has been accused of copying.
Half a minute into the web series #churails and I spot some blatant plagiarism in the opening credits. @malikafavre’s powerful illustration has been quite conveniently ripped off. @nytopinion @nytimes @NewYorker pic.twitter.com/SNtF22eCGd— Amna Tariq (@amna_tq) August 20, 2020
Amna Tariq, a Twitter user on the social networking site Twitter, claimed in her tweet that the sketch appearing at the beginning of "Charles" was in fact a copy of a sketch by French artist Malika Foure.
Oh god.... that IS bad! Thanks for sharing. Will look into it.— malika favre (@malikafavre) August 21, 2020
The user said in his tweet that the French artist had created a sketch for the opinion of the American newspaper New York Times, which was easily copied by the team of Pakistani web series ‘Churails’.
No idea who the copycat artist is— CherrySketches🍒 (@amnadoodle) August 21, 2020
French artist Malika Fourier also commented on a user's tweet called Amna Tariq, expressing regret over a copy of her sketch, calling the process ugly.
Following the tweet of a user named Amna Tariq, several users criticized the team of “Churails” and said that the team of Pakistani web series should not have copied anyone's hard work like this and if they did, at least credit the original artist. Some people should have shared a screenshot of the social media post of Sarwat Gilani, the lead actress of the said series, in which the actress can be seen advertising the copied sketch.
