Actress Veena Malik has filed a defamation suit against her ex-husband Asad Khattak in a local court in Lahore seeking Rs 1 billion in damages. Advocate Anjum Hameed, on behalf of Zahida Malik alias Veena Malik, filed a petition for damages in the District and Sessions Court of Lahore, in which Asad Khattak was also charged with blackmail and mental torture. The petition claimed that Asad Khattak shared Veena Malik's home address along with his passport and identity card on Twitter.
The petition said that Veena Malik has acted in several films and dramas in Pakistan and India and has millions of fans while the allegations leveled against her could affect her reputation, leading to her involvement with the media. In the petition, Veena Malik said that her ex-husband was defaming her on media and social media, adding that she was also suffering from mental problems due to her ex-husband's allegations.
According to the petition, the ex-husband is making false allegations of being blackmailed and he is damaging her reputation by making false claims against her. The actress has clarified in the petition that she has divorced Asad Khattak and the court has handed over the custody of the children to her. Veena Malik asked the court to pay Rs 20 million to Asad Khattak for torturing her and Rs 1 billion to her ex-husband for defaming her.
Veena Malik's plea has not yet been heard in court, but his plea is likely to be heard soon. Veena Malik divorced her ex-husband Asad Khattak in 2017, just four years after her marriage. The two were married in Dubai in December 2013 and have two children who are currently with their mother. After the divorce, the two have been accusing each other of child trafficking and blackmailing each other, and in the last few months, the war of words between the two has intensified.
The two also claimed that legal notices of damages were sent to each other in the media while Veena Malik's ex-husband had also brought out her alleged audio in which she was heard abusing her ex-husband. In addition, Asad Khattak had recently arrived in Pakistan from the United States and accused his wife of smuggling children from Dubai and appealed to Prime Minister Imran Khan and Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa for help.
Although Asad Khattak has leveled various allegations against Veena Malik, he has not yet approached the court against his ex-wife, but now Veena Malik has filed a petition against her ex-husband in a Lahore court.
