This year's monsoon season has proved disastrous in different districts of Sindh province including Karachi. The torrential rains in Quaid-e-Azam city since this morning (Thursday) have further aggravated the plight of the distressed citizens. As a result of continuous rain for several hours, the city's main highways, areas, business centres were flooded while power supply was also disrupted in most areas.
Heavy rains lashed Saddar, Malir, Defense, Baldia Town, PESHS, Scheme 33, Clifton, Shahra-e-Faisal, Landhi, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Federal B Area, Model Colony, Garden, Korangi and other areas since this morning. Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has termed the situation in Karachi as catastrophic due to heavy rains, while showbiz personalities have also expressed grave concern over the situation.
Actress Ushna Shah expressed concern over the situation in Karachi as a result of torrential rains.

In a tweet on social networking site Twitter, Ushna Shah wrote that waking up to the sound of rain made me happy but after staying in Karachi, my heart sinks during the monsoon season. She further wrote that prayers be upon all to be safe, their health and property to be safe.

Actor Faisal Qureshi also directed the citizens to take care and wrote that it is raining heavily today (August 27), Hub Dam is already full so take special care.
Faisal Qureshi wrote that don't take this rain as entertainment, Karachi is not able to deal with it, stay safe and take care of the people around you. He further wrote that may Allah keep everyone safe. Amen.
Actor Yasir Hussain lamented the plight of the city as a result of the rains. He wrote in his Instagram story that Karachi is sinking and responsible people are putting it on each other, the reins of Karachi should be in the hands of someone who can be questioned.
He further wrote that it is a shame that those whose houses have been flooded, may the palaces of high officials be swept away by their sighs.
On the other hand, actor Ijaz Aslam shared a video of the rain on his Instagram account and also urged the citizens to be safe.

Wasim Akram's wife Shanira Akram once again expressed concern over the situation in Karachi.
In a tweet on the social networking site Twitter, she wrote that he could not believe the footage from Karachi that the bypass was full of water, ship containers and vehicles were floating on the highways, backyards, poles and roads were flooded.
She further wrote that the city which does not have water is underwater today, my prayers are with Karachi.

Fashion designer Asim Jofa also posted various videos on the flood situation in the city.
In a tweet on social networking site Twitter, he posted a video and wrote that this is Sahar DHA (Defense Housing Authority), the whole of Karachi has been affected by these rains. Asim Jofa added that many things could have been saved if our infrastructure and drainage system had been planned.
At the same time, he hoped that effective steps would be taken in this regard in future.
Actor and model Nazish Jahangir also posted an Instagram story in which he wrote that rain is not a cause of mercy for everyone.
