Mahima Chaudhry's first film was Pardes, released in 1997, in which she played the role of a village girl who stole the chain of citizen Babu Shah Rukh Khan.
Mahima Chaudhry gained fame from the very first film and she started getting new films in droves. Then in 1999, she was offered to work in several films simultaneously and in the same year her super hit film Daag the Fire also came out.

In the same year, Mahima Chaudhry's film Pyaar Koi Khel Nahi and Dil Kya Kare were released, but in the same year, a terrible accident happened to her, which brought down her career which had reached its peak. Mahima Chaudhry had a dangerous road accident during the shooting of the film Dil Kya Kare with Ajay Devgn and Kajol in 1999, in which she survived and this accident changed her life forever.
In an exclusive interview with Indian showbiz website Punk Villa, Mahima Chaudhry, 46, spoke openly about the accident two decades later and how it changed her life. The actress said that while shooting for Dil Kya Kare, while she was on her way to Bangalore, her car was involved in a dangerous road accident and the windscreen of the car shattered and hit her in the face, seriously injuring her.
Recalling the accident, the actress said that at that time she felt that she would not survive but she survived and was rushed to the hospital, where Ajay Devgn and his mother were also present. Mahima Chaudhry said 67 pieces of glass had penetrated her face, which doctors removed after several hours of effort and later underwent facial surgery.
The actress said that after the facial surgery, she was confined to a closed room for several months and the accident gave her psychological and moral pain than physical pain and changed her life. The actress said that she had stopped looking in the mirror for several months after the accident and she had also removed the mirror from the room and she was living in a dark room without sunlight.
Mahima Chaudhry said that at that time there was not much awareness among the people and no one would support in an accident that happened to anyone but she was discouraged, so she also kept herself limited to others. Mahima Chaudhry said that a year after the accident, Akshay Kumar came to her and asked her to work in a beating film, and then she started playing short roles in films after the year 2000 or she started appearing in songs.
Mahima Chaudhry has acted in only 36 films in her 23-year film career, in most of which she has acted as a guest actor, meaning she has been given short roles in several films.
