A documentary on the life of slain Orangi Pilot Project (OPP) social leader Parveen Rehman has been released on Amazon Video.
The film, directed by award-winning British filmmaker Orlando von Ensidel, was released on Amazon Video on August 24 this month. In the short film, Parveen Rehman is played by Indian actress Indu Sharma, while the role of social leader's elder sister Aqila Ismail is played by British-born actress Sadha Bhachar.
The story of the film is about the struggle of Parveen Rehman and the struggle of his elder sister Aqeela Ismail after his assassination. Most of the cast and production team members are from India and the UK, but Pakistani members are also part of the team. The story of the movie 'In to Dust' has also been written by a British writer and it is being appreciated a lot.
While "To to Dust" was released on Amazon Prime, it was also screened on August 30 at the Institute of Business Administration (IBA). Prominent political and social personalities attended the screening of the film at IBA while Aqeela Ismail, sister of Parveen Rehman also attended.
According to Dawn newspaper, police officer Omar Shahid, who was investigating the murder of Parveen Rehman, also attended the screening ceremony. Speaking at the screening of 'In to Dust', IBA Executive Director (ED) Akbar Zaidi expressed frustration over not showing Parveen Rehman's close associate architect Arif Hassan in the film and said that he would accept the film. It may be recalled that in the past, director Mehra Omar had earlier made a documentary on Parveen Rehman's life titled 'Parveen Rehman: The Rebel Optimist', which also won international awards.
Parveen Rehman was shot dead in Karachi on March 13, 2013 as she was walking home from work.
