Asim Saleem Bajwa's resignation not accepted: PM Imran Khan

Special Assistant Lieutenant General (retired) Asim Saleem Bajwa today tendered his resignation to Prime Minister Imran Khan which was not accepted by the Prime Minister.

Prime Minister Imran Khan said that he was satisfied with the evidence and explanation presented by Lieutenant General (retd) Asim Saleem Bajwa and therefore the Prime Minister directed him to continue his work as Special Assistant. PM Imran Khan said that you have given the answer, you continue work, I am satisfied with the evidence and explanation presented by Asim Saleem Bajwa. The Prime Minister has rejected the resignation of Asim Saleem Bajwa.

It may be recalled that Asim Saleem Bajwa while talking to a private TV channel had said that he had decided to resign from the post of Special Assistant along with his family. Chairman CPEC Authority Asim Saleem Bajwa said that we thought that CPEC Authority needs a lot of attention so we decided that I will put all my emphasis on CPEC.

The Special Assistant said that CPEC is a top priority of the Prime Minister and he says that this is our future and after spending 10 months in CPEC Authority, I have to believe the same, so I hope the Prime Minister will give me CPEC. We will allow more careful work.

Earlier in the day, he denied all the allegations leveled against him, saying they were false and aimed at influencing CPEC and other ongoing projects.

He also said that the allegations were aimed at tarnishing the image of me and my family. He said that he would continue his efforts and services with regard to CPEC.
