Sarmad Khoosat a humble and multitalented personality, who through his success has made Pakistan proud, his work and diverse talents are what make him stand out. Sarmad belongs to an artistic family, his late grandfather Sultan Khoosat was a famed radio and Television comedian. He continued his family legacy and took steps in the media world by performing dramas and act in different voices on radio. Moreover, father Irfan Khoosat is a conventional name in the Showbiz industry of Pakistan who is a famous actor, producer and a comedian since ages and is entertaining us for a long time while his sister Kanwal Khoosat is also an actor and a director.
Sarmad did not just leave his education for his media career, He achieved his bachelor’s degree from the Government College University, Lahore and did masters in Psychology with a gold medal. After which he took steps in his acting career.
Despite the fact that Sarmad had an artistic family background, he still struggled and made himself what he is today, his career in the showbiz industry raised during the late 1990s, when he created the sitcom Shashlik which ran for over three years on PTV. Not just an actor or story writer the talented star is also a master of direction, his first television drama as a director was Piya Naam Ka Diya back in 2007. Sarmad polishes his skills and then practiced as executive director for a soap serial named Mujhe Apna Naam-o-Nishan Milay, directed by his sister Kanwal Khoosat.
Furthermore, apart from direction he also maintained his other skills like drama writing, Khoosat’s wrote a TV drama, ‘Kalmoohi’ which he not just wrote but also directed, the serial began airing on PTV in tearly 2010, and fortunately got decent reviews.
Some of his achievements include the best director award for it on LUX Style Awards for the TV drama serial Pani Jaisa Piyar that aired on Hum TV. One of his biggest achievements were for the direction of the all time hir drama serial Humsafar for Hum TV, which became an overnight success and set its own fandom. In 2016, he made a bold move of shooting Manto, which was critic acclaimed and a commercial hit. He has written the script for Saqib Malik’s upcoming production Ajnabee Sheher Main, while he has two upcoming feature films as director, writing one as well.
