Faraz Anwar was born on 15th July 1976 in Karachi, Pakistan. He is a Pakistani guitarist from Karachi, known for his solo instrumental work and his band Mizraab. He has been called “Pakistan’s master of progressive rock.

Faraz Anwar Career:

Faraz Anwar started playing guitar in 1990. Although these are 12 years since he has been playing, the Style he has is really unmatchable. Faraz Anwar played Malmsteen at the beginning, who is considered the most technically hard rock guitarist. He likes Allan Holdsworth, Yngwie Malmsteen, Paul Gilbert, Steve Morse, and Steve Vai.

During his 21 years in music, the guitarist has already worked with Ali Haider, Dr. Nadeem Kazmi, Fakhr-e-Alam, Junaid Jamshed, Sajjad Ali, and Nadeem Jaffri, and a few others. Faraz has also been a part of lesser-known bands Power House, Live Sketches, and Collage. His first international music was with Sajjad Ali for his album Bebia. His first composition Akela, crossed the screen and speakers at the famous music charts MCC 1 way back in 1993.

The album that made him internationally famous was his solo instrumental album “Abstract Point of View”. This was released by Gnarly Geeze Records Internationally. According to Faraz, “This album is a part of me”. “Sometimes it’s aggressive and at the same time, it is romantic too” This album got him a place among Gnarly Geezer Artists.

In 1996, he sent his instrumental demo tapes to Berkley College of Music Boston. They sent him a scholarship to come and study music. But due to some problems he can’t continue this, he could not go there. But for the acknowledgment, he presented him with the “Outstanding Musical Achievement Award ’96″. It was quite an achievement for the young guitarist.

His past projects include “a black/death metal band “Dusk” & a progressive metal band Mizraab”. The first album by Dusk was ” “My Infinite Nature Alone” which was released by a Portuguese label in 96. Currently, they are working on their second album “Off White” which is going to be released this year. This is set to release with International Label.

He gets his inspirations from ordinary objects & everyday life. In the beginning, he used to practice for 8 to 9 hours daily. About his dreams, he says, “I want to be a renowned Guitarist worldwide”. The passion he has, the struggle he has for his future, his dream comes true and he is now the world’s well-recognized Guitarist. Faraz is the player who plays all the genres of music with equal ease, be it blues, jazz, funk, rock, metal, or trance. Faraz produces his albums himself.

Faraz said that “There is no lack of talent in our country. The real problem is that our music is commercialized a lot. Someone said that “It’s very strange that we have such talent of music who is releasing his albums Internationally, but in his own country no one notices his talent. But with the growing period, we hope this will change soon. And Faraz will release his albums in Pakistan too.
